Hot Cocoa Party Favors for Valentine's Day
Looking for a fun and easy project this Valentine's Day? Get ready to whip up some magic! This incredible homemade hot cocoa recipe is a must-try. We'll turn it into charming party favors—a sweet, handmade gift that’s sure to warm the hearts of your closest friends.
Valentine's Day isn't just about romance and love—it's also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate friendship.
This year, I decided to share the joy by recreating the delightful homemade hot cocoa jars that were a hit in my baby shower, but now they will be transformed into heartfelt gifts for my closest friends.
This hot cocoa recipe is incredibly simple, with all the ingredients readily available at any store. A friend discovered this recipe on Pinterest, courtesy of Mels Kitchen Cafe. It yields approximately 20 servings of rich hot chocolate, perfect for filling about 6 small mason jars like these.
For an extra touch of sweetness, you can include a pack of marshmallows to accompany each jar.

INGREDIENTS
3 cups nonfat dry milk powder
2 cups powdered sugar
1½ cups cocoa powder, dutch-process or natural
1½ cups white chocolate chips or finely chopped white chocolate
¼ teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS
Combine all ingredients
Time to get everything in one place. In a large bowl, whisk together your cocoa, sugar, milk powder, chocolate chips an salt until everything is perfectly combined.
Mix all the Ingredients
For the next step, you'll need your food processor. This is where the magic happens! Carefully transfer your dry mix into the food processor. Now, pulse it a few times until the chocolate is finely ground and the whole mixture looks like a super smooth, uniform powder. This step is key for that extra-rich, professional-quality hot chocolate you’re aiming for!
Fill the mason jars
Okay, time to make them look pretty! Slowly fill your mason jars with your newly made hot chocolate mix. You’ll be able to fill about six 8 oz jars like these, which is great because this recipe yields about 20 yummy servings. They're perfect for sharing the cozy vibes with friends!
Store the dry mix in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
Making a cup of this wonderful hot chocolate is a breeze! When you’re ready for a treat, just measure out 1/3 cup of the mix and pop it into your favorite mug. Now, here's the magic part: slowly pour in 1 cup of hot milk or hot water while you stir. It'll all come together in a perfectly rich, silky smooth cup of cocoa. Find a comfy spot, take a sip, and savor the moment!
I've created cute printable tags featuring the recipe, perfect for attaching to the jars so your friends can enjoy making hot cocoa at home.
Note: A few moths ago the site crashed and we lost all the PDF printables that we uploaded in the site. You can download the image below and use it for your projects. I’m sorry if it doesn’t have a great printing quality.
I finished decorating the jars with ribbon to add the perfect finishing touch.
This Valentine's Day hot cocoa gift idea combines warmth and thoughtfulness. Whether you choose to share it with a special someone or gift it to your closest friends, the homemade touch and customizable elements like marshmallows, ribbons and personalized tags will add a delightful extra touch for sure :)
