Circus Themed Baby Shower Ideas

Get ready to plan the most joyful celebration! We're sharing all our best tips to create a colorful, circus-themed baby shower.

The circus has always been a place of magic and life, so what could be a better theme for a baby shower? With our little one on the way, we decided to make our baby shower in California a circus-themed celebration. And I have to say, everything turned out absolutely adorable and was bursting with life and color! If you're looking to plan a fun party with this theme, here are some of my favorite tips and ideas.

Tips for a Circus-Themed Baby Shower:

  1. Choose your color palette. Circuses are all about being cheerful and happy, so pick at least three base colors. We chose red, yellow, and blue—primary colors that looked amazing together and fit the theme perfectly.

2. Use lots and lots of animals! Elephants, zebras, monkeys, lions, and giraffes are a must. We used lots of animal figurines and prints to give every corner a wild and adorable touch.

3. Don't forget the details. Use themed details to decorate your food and candy table. We used popcorn boxes and miniature buckets to hold napkins and utensils, all in our red, blue, and yellow colors. These little touches make a big difference!

4. The food makes the party. Food is key to making your guests feel welcome. If you're planning a brunch like we did, sandwiches, fruit, empanadas, and sweet treats are a perfect choice. And the cake? It has to be the centerpiece! Ours was a gorgeous cake made by my talented friend Janette Corral from Sweet Vanile. It was almost too pretty to eat!

5. Have fun with photo props. Photo props are a must for capturing memories! My friends had the brilliant idea of using funny clown noses for our pictures. You can also create a themed photo backdrop or use hats, glasses, and balloons to make your photos even more memorable.

6. A diaper cake is a must-have. I made mine with the adorable and tiny Huggies® Little Snugglers for newborns. I used ribbons in our theme colors and a handmade monkey as a topper—our baby's very first stuffed animal, which we bought in Coyoacán, Mexico!
